Richard Hunt was born in 1935 in Chicago. He earned a B.A.E. from the Art Institute of Chicago in 1957. He received a Guggenheim Fellowship in 1962, as well as the Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Sculpture Center in 2009. Hunt has works in the collections of the Art Institute of Chicago; the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington; the National Museum of American Art, Washington; the National Museum of Israel, Jerusalem; the Metropolitan Museum of Art and The Museum of Modern Art, New York; and the Museum of the Twentieth Century, Vienna.
