Ernest Trova, Abstract Variation Lozenger No. 3, 1980

Ernest Trova's Abstract Variation Series possess a balance of chaos and order. The works in this series vary in scale, from modest to monumental, and were rusted Cor-Ten steel, or painted steel. This work made of stainless steel illustrates the effect of elements resting against one another as it implies immanent collapse.

Ernest Trova’s gift of forty works to St. Louis County helped bring Laumeier Sculpture Park to life in 1976. Many of these works are displayed throughout the park and region, so that the St. Louis native’s legacy is alive at Laumeier and in the arts community. Examples of Trova’s geometric, abstract and figurative work can be seen throughout the Park.
