Ernest Trova, Abstract Variation No. 5, 1976

Ernest Trova's Abstract Variation series each possess his interest in the precarious balance of chaos and order. The works in this series vary in scale, from modest to monumental, and were made of either Cor-Ten or painted steel.  Absract Variation No. 5, 1976, is made of rusted cut COR-TEN steel is a robust structure and is an example of one of his earliest works in this series, illustrated by its bottom-heavy, angular composition.

Ernest Trova’s gift of forty works to St. Louis County helped bring Laumeier Sculpture Park to life in 1976. Many of these works are displayed throughout the park and region, so that the St. Louis native’s legacy is alive at Laumeier and in the arts community. Examples of Trova’s geometric, abstract and figurative work can be seen throughout the Park.
