Educator Open House at Laumeier Sculpture Park

Educators should join us for a free Open House at Laumeier. Enjoy an evening tour of the museum gallery and grounds. Meet docents and share teaching ideas during this unique workshop that combines a walking tour of the grounds, gallery tour and educational resources. Discover how our Education Department can help you enhance your curriculum through practical applications for the classroom that incorporate the permanent collection and special exhibits for teaching students of all grade levels and subjects. (Free, registration required).

Laumeier Sculpture Park Educator Programs

 

Educator workshops and teacher resources highlight the permanent collection, special exhibits and the visual arts. Educator workshops may be conducted at your facility throughout the school year to help instructors incorporate the permanent collection of Laumeier Sculpture Park in their curriculum. Activities are designed to provide new tools for classroom learning and enhance the visual arts through an interdisciplinary approach. Workshops strive to meet the professional development needs of area educators by incorporating appreciation and analysis of artworks with suggested activities and resources.

 

Educator workshops are for Art Specialists, Classroom Teachers, Parent Volunteers and Student Teachers.
Program length:  One hour
Maximum number of Participants: 25
Cost:  $125
Additional mileage costs will be charged if school distance is more than 30 miles round trip from the Museum. 

 

The Open Air Museum
Year-round
Learn about contemporary art and the unique approach to art in the natural environment. Presentation includes an overview of Laumeier Sculpture Park and the development of site-specific artworks. Learn how to engage students through activities and discussion. Start with art and make the connections between disciplines to enrich your classroom curriculum.

 

Our Favorite Forms
September 2007 – April 2008
This workshop for elementary art and classroom teachers provides lessons and activities that encourage creative production at the student level. Learn new and innovative ways to explore sculpture and encourage three-dimensional projects as part of the visual art curriculum. 


Resource Center
Year-round
The Resource Center provides educators and others with access to a variety of materials on the Park, its exhibitions, and collection. Teaching materials, activity kits, videos, books and posters are available for loan, as well as CDs and DVDs offering an overview of the park and the collection.
