Laumeier has numerous outreach programs that help connect the park with its visitors and the greater St. Louis community. Our outreach programs are divided into two main areas: School-age outreach programs (K-12) and general community programs (Community Presentations).

K-12 PROGRAMS

Classroom visits are conducted by a museum educator using a slide or PowerPoint presentation. Materials designed for educators to use before and after a classroom visit contain information about selected artists for writing activities, art projects and discussion.  All materials support the Missouri Grade-Level Expectations. Programs are 55 minutes in length with a maximum of 30 students per session. The cost of each program is $75. All programs are offered October through March and must be reserved a minimum of three weeks in advance. Additional mileage costs will be charged if school distance is more than 30 miles roundtrip from the Museum.

ART@thesculpturepark

Grades 3 – 5
Take a closer look and explore contemporary art. Students will investigate the unique process of site specific and environmental sculpture. Activities encourage creative problem-solving skills and an appreciation of three-dimensional forms in a natural setting. Participating classrooms are encouraged to visit the Museum for a docent-led tour/field trip.

See For Yourself:  Modern & Contemporary Sculpture

Grades 6 – 8
Learn how to look at Modern and Contemporary sculpture. Students will be introduced to the basics of viewing and discussing three-dimensional works of art. A follow-up field trip to Laumeier is encouraged.

Museum Professions

Grades 6 - 12
Consider the choices. Students will be introduced to the wide variety of occupations in a museum setting and how they relate to their current studies. The tasks and trades of each position will demonstrate the use of basic language arts, math or science knowledge through discussion and role-playing activities. Curatorial, administration, education, public relations and operation positions will be explored in this career awareness program.
