The spirit of community service has always been a part of Laumeier Sculpture Park and the annual Art Fair. Our goal is to offer volunteers a fun and satisfying experience and the knowledge that committing just a few hours can make a difference. The Art Fair would not be successful without your thoughtful generosity.
Please check your calendars for the weekend of May 7, 8 and 9. If you have a few hours to spare, we hope you will join us, and over 200 other volunteers, in the production of this popular springtime event. There are several shift times available at each area. No experience is necessary and all information and materials will be provided. Volunteers must be at least 16-years-old or accompanied by an adult.
As an Art Fair volunteer, you will receive a Laumeier Sculpture Park volunteer t-shirt; Free admission to the Art Fair…browse the Fair before or after your shift!; Volunteer Appreciation Picnic with food, beverage and an attendance raffle with fantastic prizes, to be held on Thursday, May 6 from 5:00–7:00 PM—Mark your calendars!; For students, credit toward community service requirements (please use Student Sign-up Sheet); Supporting your community, meeting other volunteers, contributing to the success of Laumeier Sculpture Park.
Admissions Gate
Greet visitors as they arrive and distribute Art Fair programs
Provide directions to visitors (maps are available)
Count and record attendance
Creation Location
Assist children with specific art activities and distribute supplies
Assist demonstrating artists
Museum Gallery
Monitor and count gallery attendance (if congested, limit the number coming in)
Answer questions about Laumeier and the exhibits (info will be provided)
“Police” the exhibits
Direct visitors to Fair area, restrooms, etc.
Membership, Information and Art Fair Store
Answer questions about the membership program
Process membership applications and payments
Answer questions about Laumeier and distribute Park information
Sell Laumeier t-shirts
Track inventory and sales
Volunteer Check-in
Check in all volunteers using the folders provided (distribute t-shirts, etc.)
Direct volunteers to assigned areas
Provide snacks and water to volunteers at other areas of the Fair
Optional move to a different location if additional volunteers are needed elsewhere
Enter results from visitor surveys into computer
Raffle
Oversee the collection of no-cost raffle tickets from Art Fair visitors
Provide information about the rules of the raffle
Promote the raffle to Art Fair visitors as they enter and exit the Fair
